No, the Sens won't be spending much on UFA's, they hardly ever do that, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a big free agent come to Ottawa in a signing, it's always been in a trade or draft. You've also just made it insanely hard to sign Stutzle.

Fair point, Ottawa is never much of a big spender regardless. I imagine the sens would love to lock up stutzle long term but I'm sure he'll end up with a bridge at 6-7. I also considered dumping Murray's contract with a pick and prospect too. Once again don't see the sens doing that. A white buyout I suppose would also be possible.

Welcome to CapFriendly! Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

We won't be trading Max Comtois at his low point. And that's without any silliness like "unless it's for Jake Sanderson."

Fair enough. I was always curious to see how a ducks fan would feel. What would how realistically take for him? Brainstorm is also at a low right now

Notice how many 1 year contracts were signed here?

Damn, I wish we'd be able to sign Hertl and Nutivaara as UFAs

And don't worry for the cap in Ottawa, it's extremely manageable... there's always contract expiring (like Tierney, Sanford, Zaitsev, Murray, White). The cap is also going to rise again. The only question is will Ottawa be able to follow?

As for significant UFAs who signed in Ottawa in the (recent) past : Dominik Hasek, Sergei Gonchar, Alexei Kovalev, Clarke MacArthur

Even at the time dadanov was a big signing. That obviously didn't turn out great but still

Four words for those UFA's : A long time ago.

I also wouldn't say that Clarke MacArthur is a significant UFA, that 2017 first round winner in Boston is one of my favourite memories watching a hockey game.

Yeah true, we were hopeful to have a legit top-6 forward in him. Now we prefer to just forget it

Well, Dorion hasn't done much good as a GM. One of the best he has done was to bring Troy Mann, which solidified the Mann brothers in Ottawa. Without them, my hope level would be very low lol

And MacArthur was a pretty good player in Ottawa, it's concussions issues that cut his career short. The MacArthur-Turris-Ryan (MoToR) line was awesome.
