Canucks and Isles would both easily decline. The price the Canucks want are two great prospects and a 1st, if I'm understanding correct. The Isles wouldn't move Mayfield unless it was for a 1st or something(s) of equal value.

I'm sorry but in what world does Mayfield get a 1st? He is a bottom pair D man. 3rd would get him never mind adding a prospect and Kaut was a 1st round pick

He had to play big minutes for a long time when Pulock was out, to call him a bottom pairing defenseman is unfair, he's best used as one, yes, but he can easily slot into the 2nd pairing if need be. His goal differential and possession metrics have been great on a poorly run Islanders team. He has another year left at a VERY affordable cap hit.

Kaut has potential, but he'll probably end up being a middle-6 forward, and we can't predict his cap hit. A 1st round pedigree loses value once you enter your mid-20s, and Kaut is already 22.

Also, a 1st is what Islanders fans would take for him, they'll be re-tooling this year and looking to get back into contention next year, Mayfield would be a very important part of that team, as such, they have no reason to move him.
