Nucks dub, they got a 1st and a prospect for a rental, probably one of the few sighs of relief Canucks fans can get this season (sorry about Bruce).

Yeah, even IF Monahan was going to get a 1st, he'd be fully retained. Regardless, I wouldn't do it. In a draft this deep, Monahan for a 1st isn't worth it.

Avs W, we get a good defensive bottom 6 forward who has experience with us, and manage to get positive value out of Kaut!

Leafs Deadline
If you're going to ask for retention on McCabe, the Hawks will give you a full 50%, any amount of retention comes with the same cost, which will be a 1st + a prospect.

make it work
2nd + a prospect would be fine for McCabe at full price, but he'll cost a 1st + a prospect if the Blackhawks are retaining. That's 3 years without being able to use a retention spot at the TDL.

Elliotte Friedman reported a 2nd. A 3rd is definitely low-balling since it's the TDL, prices naturally rise.

TDL Ott - Playing around
The Oilers are stacked with top 6 forwards, DeBrincat is the last thing they need. They'd be more in the market for a Zub type of player, a defensive defenseman, not that Zub is available. Also, I seriously doubt Bouchard is available.

Toews gets a 2nd, maybe a 4th-5th along with it, a 3rd won't suffice.

I mean I'd rather keep Compher and I'm wary about the cap raise like @coga16 and @UpsideDownQue but if the cap does work in our favor I would definitely be interested.

Probable Opening Night Roster

Quoting: GiggywithGibby

I can see the argument for this, but I guess it comes down to where do you think the 23 and 24 picks will be, and do you not think Beaucage has what it takes to make it in the show? I know the rumors are that there will still be good prospects hanging around at the bottom of the 1st round this year, but you'd be giving up a player that looks like he will make it and a 1st in order to save a 1st that's just supposed to be "good". The reason for the Ducks to covet the 23 is to stock the cupboard early to try and accelerate out of this rebuild. We could add something minor to make up any perceived balance difference, like ANA's 23 4th, or a non Helleson RHD prospect, possible Axel Andersson. Only real reason I don't jump at the 24 and Beaucage is because I think the RW is going to be set for a while (Terry/Strome) and we wouldn't really be able to use him effectively unless he feels confident playing on the left as well.

I do believe Beaucage could succeed, I've just heard he's had trouble with skating in some cases, which is a massive red flag considering the Avs game revolves a lot around fast skating and puck moving. I think he is worth a decent amount, but maybe a lesser prospect is warranted in this case. I'm just not keen on giving up a pick in what some say is one of the deepest drafts since 2003 for anything less than a current 1st line center.

Perron tried to take a headshot at Kadri, targetted him along with Buchnevich, and was a general prick in that 2nd round.
Yeah, I think the animosity towards Perron by Kadri, along with most of us Avs fans still liking Kadri as he left on good terms, means that this feeling will translate to the locker room. So no, we shouldn't get Perron. Not to mention he'd probably get booed on the ice whenever he touches the puck.

While I don't think Henrique warrants the 2023 1st, I'd offer the 2024 1st + Beaucage or another similar-caliber of prospect.

Perron likely would get run out of the locker room, look at the bad blood between the Avs and Blues from last years playoffs, hard pass from both the Avs and Perron himself.

Avs 2023-24
Bowers has played horrible from the limited time he has had in the league, even in the pre-season in a limited role. He isn't an NHL-caliber player. Newhook hasn't shown that he is worth $4M, he has 4 points. We'd also need to trade one of our LD, depth is great, but we can't play Girard or Byram as 3rd pairing players when they both need ice time.

I do however, think this is a good deal, value wise. Good job!
