Well earned. I thought he'd get less but I'm okay with this. He has been performing well.

I was conflicted about this at the time the signing happened, because the Senators have had multiple hot goalies who they sign to 2-3 year contracts who flame out and become negative value contracts (Hammond, Condon, Nilsson). It is a pattern that a goalie overperforms on Ottawa, gets paid, and then the Senators get stuck with them.

With that said, Forsberg needs to fire his agent. If he held out until the summer, he'd get 4+ million on the same term. This is an obscene deal given where the goalie market is at.

Which isn't to say he will live up to the contract, only that the Senators were perceptive enough to make a great deal early on given where the goalie market is now at.
