Description
Brian Burke just said in an interview that he likes the team they have and wouldn't expect any moves due to cap space. I really hope that is wrong. To me this is worst possible scanerio. We are not winning in the playoffs with our lack of scoring depth. At absolute best we get to round 2. I understand we don't have much cap space, but neither do a lot of teams and there are ways to make it work. Could have Zucker on LTIR or trade Petterson. Better to either fully go all in or trade away pending UFA's, not just stand pat. To me this is a huge wasted opportunity, and I really hope it is wrong.

If this is it I think we are out in the first round again. The Rangers look really good right now and they can roll two goalies.

Yeah it's an awful decision. I don't even think we'd get past the Rangers much less the Panthers or Hurricanes.

There are 5 teams like the CBJ that have over 10 million in cap space that are rebuilding. If Burke can't offload cap space for picks to improve the team now then that's on Burke.

Also our lack of depth scoring would be exposed so bad against Shesterkin. If no one but Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Rust can score on regular goalies imagine against him.

It's true, seems like an excuse. If you don't have cap space it's the GM's job to make it. Tiring constantly hearing lack of cap space as reasons we won't do anything.

Burke and Hextall were brought to us to bridge the gap between contending and rebuilding. That means no selling off prospects or 1sts. The problem is that now this team has proven it’s not done for yet. This core is aged for sure but they are aging like a wine. This is the literal last chance to go for it, which means 1sts, POJ, Poulin, and Legare should be on the market. I’m afraid the story of this front office will be one of wasted opportunity and soon it really will be too late

It's true. They act like our first round picks are gonna turn into Connor McDavid. It's unlikely our 1st will turn out to be a stud, much rather would have an improved chance at a cup even if it's not a huge chance. Burke said it's not worth it to trade a first when the odds of winning a cup are so low, but they're low for literally every team cause it's such a hard trophy to win. This mindset is just not the right one, I hope they're just saying all this to the media.

Burke is on nhl network right now. He sounds like a guy who doesn’t believe in this team. Lots of trade deadline deals usually are bad nonsense.
