Sundqvist in the Off-Season

Description
Yes, I know Simon is a Duck. This is if Anaheim did not re-sign him. If they don’t, which who knows yet, I think it’d be funny to see him come back yet again.

Sundqvist would be a nice successor to ZAR, like how McGinn was for Tanev. It also gives another center option.

Fleury may be unrealistic, who knows what will play out with him. Money doesn’t seem to be his motive. We can literally just re-sign DeSmith or get a guy like Craig Anderson if he became available. DeSmith could be a $900k-1mill deal and that would save some more cap in this scenario. Hell, you could bring him back anyway to be the third goalie.

I’m not sure if POJ would play next year immediately even without MP. He’s just not physical enough and Friedman is too tempting to this coaching staff. Even signing a vet guy like Jordie Benn wouldn’t shock me if they want physical, high character depth.

I’d like to bring back one or two of ERod, Heinen and Kapanen. I choose Kapanen due to his speed but ERod can get hot again. Heinen is a good player that could price himself out. You could sign one of ERod or Heinen here and send O’Connor down easily.

Also, Kappy’s deal is supposed to be a 2 year deal, not 3. If I had to sign ERod, I’d try to sign him to a $2mill-ish deal. Heinen would be $2mill or just under. Kapanen could take less in theory and that could go to one of those two guys or to some of the other guys that are signed here.

Detroit declines.

Pettersson warrants an offer of a 3rd round pick, not more.

What would your counter be? Sundqvist for Petey straight up?

I wouldn't trade Sundqvist at all after just acquiring him. Getting Sunny was a conscious choice by Yzerman who had him well scouted, so he's here for at least one year.

I'll give you a 3rd for Pettersson to help you with your cap and waiver problems.

I'll give you a 2nd and Erne if you add Kapanen too.
