I'd take Zucker for a 2nd, he's cheap to buy out.

I mean assuming you guys lose Klingberg next year, Pettersson would be the 3rd/4th (mattering on how good 38yr old Suter is) best dman on the stars roster but yeah go off queen

treating a 25 y/o LD signed for 3x$4M as a cap dump is a strange tactic but you do you

realistically think Pittsburgh could get a 2/3 pick and a mid-tier prospect for him. Solid possession numbers with Marino on the 2nd pair, not a super flashy player but young enough that their might be more there, and, most importantly, arguably a better value than any of the LHD available as UFA this summer. Even if they might be slightly better players, he's much younger than guys like Mark Giordano or Alex Edler, and will probably have a lower cap hit than guys like Ben Chiarot or Ian Cole.

Ok where to star?

1 Flower is not coming back. He is going to sign with the Wild. He made it pretty clear he was only leaving Chicago to go to a contender and one he wanted to play for. Guerin is his former teammate and he isn’t going there for a cup of coffee.

2 Trading Zucker is a must but why not send MP to Detroit who desperately needs a LHD? Get a pick and move that cap hit. That trade to Dallas brings back a couple 4th liners… which we have enough of already

3 The Isles aren’t going to trade Mayfield. His cap hit is absurdly low and that team has a clear identity that he fits. He actually doesn’t fit Sully even though I’d love to have him

4 The UFAs… that’s the bare minimum for Rust. He’s going to be one of the top 5 UFAs this off-season, meaning we are going to be paying 6.5 to 7 aav. Geno at 7 aav is probably close to right but Letang has made it clear no discount is coming from him. He’s going to cost 8 aav or more. He’s the best UFA among the D and he can get a huge pay day. Kadri isn’t signing for 6 aav and Geno is not a winger!
