Feels a bit high on Marchment, term and years— but I think he is the perfect UFA to target for Hynes’ system. Would love for Poile to go after him this summer.

Forsberg is overvaluing himself right now, but that’s probably what it’s gonna take for him to stay in NSH. While I don’t love it, I can live with it.

I'm not a fan of the contract I gave Marchment here either, but he's a UFA and there'll be competition for him. Whoever gets him will likely have to overpay for him like this. If NSH can get him for less money and/or term, I'd be pleasantly surprised. I agree he's perfect for what Hynes wants in his players

Some analysts are saying Forsberg could cost $10M next season. That's crazy to me, but he's got Poile over a barrel. DP can't walk away from the negotiations after not getting anything for him as a deadline rental, or making any other moves to go for it, if this is FF's last season here.

My guess is he'd sign for this amount but wants a NMC like Josi, and that's been the main sticking point.

Even with the above roster, there isn't enough cap space for Jeannot, Carrier and Fabbro to get new contracts for 23-24.

I can definitely see the NMC being the sticking point. But if some team wants to give him $10m, then good for him-- but NSH definitely doesn't need to offer anything more than this. Having a career year at just the right time...

With the Marchment signing, I wouldn't be opposed to trading Kunin for picks and promoting a guy like Afanasyev. And if they want to move on from Myers, there's some more cap space. That should be enough for Jeannot, Carrier, and Fabbro. Will be interesting to see how high the cap is set for the 2023/24 season.
