Description
I know Marner for Doughty is VERY unlikely, but it would be nice.
Girard trade is not unlikely if Byram is healthy again.

Not without being in cap hell or sending back big money contracts of their own, unless Toronto wants to retain salary.

Yeah, that's not true at all. You can make a deal that makes value sense for most teams with marner pretty easily

Yeah, its not like a cap strapped team recently traded for a 10+ million dollar contract without sending big salary back

Even without Dadonov, they're in cap hell for the foreseeable future.

They've been in cap hell for years now, so nothing has changed

It's even worse now. They're getting more and more top heavy and won't have room to pay their middle six forwards and #2-4 defensemen. Much like Toronto, their goaltender situation is tenuous and they don't have any maneuverability to do anything about it.

Even though they got Eichel for what many would consider to be less than fair market value, I still think they'll come to regret making that trade.

The only way vegas regrets that trade is if eichel is hurt and never heals fully
Otherwise they got a top 5 c in the league for peanuts. If they weren't so hurt right now they're making another cup run in a weak division

I'd argue that two or three of the guys on their LTIR list aren't actually hurt and are ready to return to the lineup at any time (Stone, Martinez), but they can't activate them due to their cap situation, so they're still "hurt". We might even see them add Lehner to that list since they couldn't dump Dadonov.

I don't doubt that they have nagging injuries, just like over half of the players in the league do down the stretch, but they'd be playing through those injuries if they weren't in a cap crunch.
