2022-2023 no boat rocking

Created by: Mystaes
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 23, 2022
Published: Mar. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Probably too close to cap floor - when fabbri comes back removing someone from the roster could bring us below the floor (he’s on Ir and not ltir because we need the caphit).

Might be the ideal time to take a contract dump such as Monahan, dadonov, Martinez, or anyone else for the pick and $$$ against the cap. Short term of course. We want to have enough cap that we could conceivably trade somebody without going under (sunqvist, Erne, and pius are all prime TDL candidates, and so is bert if negotiations don’t bear fruit).

If we are on dadonov’s NtC or he doesn’t end up getting dumped there are other contract dumps we can seemlessly take one. We’ll need to spend ~7m on lhd and goaltending to get to the cap floor and a contract dump on that should get us a nice enough buffer.

Who knew all the elc’s would be so hard to juggle hahaha.

The real question is in this capcrunch environment, which players will be available as cap dumps (with compensation to Detroit) over the next year.

Most of the competitive teams are against it and all will be looking to squeak out an advantage. Other then Monahan, Dadonov or Martinez, can you think of likely dump candidates ?

Detroit won't have any problems making the cap floor. Yzerman will be looking to sign a 2C in the offseason as well as one or two LD. With a goalie and a few raises to our RFAs that should come to around $ 15 millions
