So Minnesota is trading away Brodin (I'm guessing because EXPANSION DRAFT!!!!) and getting Carrick, who they'd likely lose in expansion?

Yeah and they would get leivo(a decent prospect) and most likely a mid round pick. Better to get something then lose brodin for free.

I'm betting that if the opportunity to get Brodin came around, there'd be about 25 teams willing to offer more than a bottom 6 fwd.

Why do Leaf fans continue to pay Hyman $2M for 10 goals? I don't get it. He has only had 1 year.

Why do Leaf fans continue to pay Brown $3M for 20 goals when he has only had 1 year?

You're not getting Brodin for those 2, not unless you think that the Wild are on some drugs.

Hyman does a lot of the other things and babcock loves him. Leafs are going to hope he can provide a few more goals in the future. Brown does a lot of the other thing too and can score. Wild can only protect one of dumba and brodin in the expansion. So the leafs should use carrick to trade for brodin. Obviously they will add in a prospect and and Draft pick. Honestly I don't think carrick is worth protecting so they should try to use him as a trade chip on a team that has d protection issues and get one that's worth protecting if there in the age range that the leafs are

You're on drugs if you think this is the old Leafs who will hand out dumb contracts. $2.5M for a 10 goal scorer who played THE ENTIRE YEAR with a 40 goal guy. Sorry, he is a 3rd liner at best playing with a first liner. The fact you don't see this makes me wonder your knowledge of hockey. Carrick won't get you Brodin, they could trade a prospect and a draft pick to the Knights and keep Brodin. Remember you can send the Knights extra "gifts" and they will not take that player. People forget this.
