Description
What do you guys think of the COL trade? Obviously Crow would have to agree to the trade (which is unlikely). Hawks don't have many options with all the big money having NTC so I think a Crawford trade is very plausible (his NTC details are unknown according to cap friendly). Ideally you trade Seabrook, but I just don't see any team taking him unless the Hawks eat the max half retained salary. AA is the other more likely big money trade candidate but the Hawks are really thin at center. Up front this team still has a lot of questions, but I think Jurco could take a big step forward next season and I think Ras can play a good shutdown role. Hayden probably won't work out and Schmaltz is a big question at center. But lets face it, the hawks just don't have many options. Kempny and Forsling have to be given full playing time to develop and determine their skill. I also really like Gusafsson and would give him a chance if anyone of the defenseman struggle. Maybe Debrincat can break the lineup by the end of the season, but I think he needs some AHL seasoning.

Why would Colorado, a team rebuilding, want to trade for a goalie in his prime, and get a mid round pick in a weak draft for a true 1C. Panik and Pokka aren't worth that much. No way this deal would ever go trough on Colorados end

Value. They could end up trading Crow and getting more back. Duchene's value isn't what it use to be, and arguably Crow's value is as high as it's ever been. Also, with the right moves, having a goalie like Crow could make COL a playoff team (ok that might be a stretch)

lol i can tell from your history you're a Crow hater. He's an elite goalie but you're free to have your own opinion

I'm honestly going to have to agree with the others on this. No way Colorado makes this trade. If you're saying Colorado could flip Crow for more than they paid for him why wouldn't the Hawks just trade him for more?

I agree with a lot of your description. But...
Why do you feel that Hayden won't work out?
Kempny is nearly 27 years old. He doesn't need time to develop and the Hawks certainly have his skill set determined by now. From scouting, to practice, to the game time he has gotten, the Hawks know what they have in Kempny. The Kitchen firing may be changing things on the back end next year as far as playing time goes.
I personally think Forsling making the team this last year was a mistake. He was absolutely not ready, but hopefully it didn't stunt his development. Maybe he will be closer to ready next year.
I am also and have been a small fan of Gustafsson. I think he could be a capable #6 defenseman in this league without a doubt.
