Trades
1.
TOR
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Probably could get more but a 2nd is a decent return for now. There will be several teams that like a 50+ point player with his versatility and cap hit.
2.
TOR
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (DAL)
3.
TOR
  1. Myers, Philippe ($1,275,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Nashville is going to buyout Myers, it comes with a cap credit. TO likely can sign him for cheap since he's not in any demand and is on the Marlies right now.

The cap is available. Why not re-sign Mikheyev?

Why? What has Liljegren done to deserve an offer sheet that high? He's been a 3rd pair defender and while does have potential, he also has some warts still. Can get beat on the rush at times, and can get a little lost in his zone at times. Especially on faceoffs. Give him time and I think he'll prove to be a good player but he needs a full season in the top 6 before getting and offer sheet

He isn't an offensive RD. He's a two way RD and hasn't earned that cash, so anyone offer sheeting him are taking a major risk.

I think Giordano probably gets similar/more money to sign elsewhere and play every day instead of being a 7th D here.

Sandin & Liljegren are probably in the ballpark, it shouldn't cost more than $3.5-4M to sign them both for bridge deals.

Biggest issue with this is the lack of forward depth - you're banking on finding another Michael Bunting with your LW2 prediction, which is easier said than done. And you've got Kyle Clifford playing, which I'm sure is the last thing most people in Toronto want to see happening on a nightly basis.

nah. i think he'll get around 2.5m on his next contract. for another 1m or so a team could steal him from under the leafs and have him for years.

Eh, I think Toronto matches most, if not all, offer sheets you could realistically throw at Liljegren. Anything up to $2.05M is easy for them to match, and above that threshold you're giving up a 2nd rounder for him - not sure if that's something I'd really want to do at this point.

Dubas found Kampf, Kase, Mikheyev and Bunting all for cheap. He has a track record of finding value. Everyone said this year they had no depth and they proved that wrong. Gio very likely would play full time and Sandin and Liljegren will battle for the last defence position. Or they just don't sign him and get other depth guys.

This is classic, "player A has been good for 10 games" overblown a small sample size.

Who are similar players? He hasn't even played a full season yet. He's played 67 games in his career. A 2 year bridge deal is definitely what's going to happen. Assuming he's going to be 2nd pair offensive dman and paying him as such is super risky. I have seen several games where he was easily the worst defenceman on the team. It looks like he's beaten Holl out but had Sandin not gotten hurt, would he even be playing right now? Let's temper our expectations
