Should buyout Hoffman instead. They really shouldn't give up a top 35 pick to get rid of him.

No other team would give up multiple picks but that's the luxury have having a boatload of picks. May as well use them. Already bought out Drouin. A #35 pick has an unlikely chance to do anything in the NHL. Wont be a Seth Jarvis, thats for sure lmao

You should look at how little the buyout penalty is. There are solid prospects taken in the early 2nd round.

I'd be more concerned in giving a soon to be 35 year old Letang on April 24, a 5 year deal but seems the rumours wont go away and having Hughes there makes it seem very likely especially with the Pens having to sign Malkin and Rust

Flyers don't need Petry, but if we did trade for him JVR would be going the other way

It's been rumoured for awhile. Petry is leaving cause of a family issue, the Habs would keep him otherwise and the Flyers are interested, doesnt matter what the fans want, thats the reality. Top4 D is much more valuable than a unproductive and overpaid forward. You'd have to add a lot

Petry rumours were a thing because Risto was expected to leave.
Also, Petry's a cap dump as well. We would not have to add alot, because Petry barely holds any value at 6 mil and that trade is already lopsided in Montreal's favour

Its not even close to lopsided. You are a fan of the team that just traded for Risto. That's some selective memory right there. Ken Holland literally paid for Duncan Keith. Gms pay for top4 D every time. JVR was available for free in expansion and wasnt taken.

The evidence is all there in the last year to prove you are wrong

It's two cap dumps and a 2nd for an okay young forward and a third.
Frost and a 3rd essentially cancel out the 2nd (even that's pretty generous to MTL), so it's basically 2 cap dumps to Philly for nothing.

I'm not trying to say JVR is valuable. He isn't. And neither is Petry. They're both cap dumps, and both Armia and Petry are cap dumps the Flyers don't need.
