Led the league in blocked shots most the year, had all his teeth knocked out and broke his leg. Yeah it was a rough season. Doesn't mean you trade him for a washed up overpaid veteran.

Ferraro would be a good OS candidate, but I highly doubt that's a route we go down and I bet the Sharks would match. Nic Hague in Vegas however....

It wasn't an ideal year yes. But this is a horrid offer for a future top 4 with a bright future and leadership abilities.

where do you get the idea he was horrible this year? sharks D improved this year, our goals per game went down and the team has been better (not good obviously but better)
ferraro hasn’t scored much but when you’re Brent Burns partner you’re more focused on saving his but and being the defensive specialist who stays back and protects from breakaways and odd man rushes. he has played pretty well in my eyes.

future top 4??? don’t you mean a top 4! he has played top 4 min for 3 years and has been our top LD the last 2. he’s not perfect but he is a quality top 4 young d man.

Unlike some of the other homers in this thread, I don't think that Mario is anywhere like a good enough player to be a top four defenseman on a Cup winning team - he'd be a very good 5th blueliner though. That said, there's no way that San Jose is trading him - we have a lot of LD players, but none of them are particularly good or are still developing. Additionally, he's already got an A, and it's extremely obvious from comments that everyone from the coaches to the team's front office have made that they see him as a long-term member of the leadership group. You'd have to very much overpay to get him out of San Jose.
