Why would Ottawa have any use for a broken down Jake Muzzin with Jake Sanderson coming up? And visa versa. And why would Mrazek waive from a serious playoff contender to a cellar dweller in Arizona?

Muzzin has an AAV of 5.5m but will only be owed 2X2m in Bonus, and 2 years at 2m salary... so he would only cost ottawa 3 million in cash per year.. and the Sens care more about cash out than Salary Cap. And Muzzin will play better than other 3 m defense men

Ottawa declines.

The next time you make a trade with a division rival, consider what they would want as well.

Why would Toronto
a) trade one of their best prospects who will most likely be playing in the top 9 next year at a cheap price to dump a contract that costs 1 mil per year with a buyout.
b) trade a guy who plays 20 minutes a night and their defensive forechecking 3C (our closest comparable to Tampa’s Blake Coleman. He isn’t as talented offensively but he’s very similar in the role that he plays of a forechecking guy who is heavily relied on to be a shutdown C) for a worse and less versatile forward and a 3rd?
