thats why canucks would be taking a season-facilitating cap dump from vegas in exchange!

I sort of see what the OP is getting at, that Dadonov and Broissoit's contracts would lower the value from that side, but if I was Vegas, I'd simply use a 2nd to dump Dadonov, then shed another $4-5 mil elsewhere. I'd certainly not be moving my best (or 2nd best) dman for a 1 year rental on a position that really isn't a huge need.

Everybody crappin' on Vegas forgetting that their best players, guys like Stone and Patches, missed more than half the season, Eichel had been out a full calendar year, then there were a whole bunch of other guys who missed a ton of time. The narrative that Eichel is the reason they lost is hilarious tears of joy

Good point - do you think a 2nd really moves Dadonov? Do you think he agrees?

I figured the 1-year rental of Miller was a good way for vegas to get another quality player for another push next year while gaining flexibility the year after, the cost being Theodore. I agree they underachieved massively this year

I think a 2nd would get it done. Gotta remember, they were super handcuffed when they made that ill-fated deal with the Ducks, which had John Moore's $2.75 mil coming back, but I think if they've got a full offseason to figure it out, a 2nd should be fine. It's only a 10 team NTC, so it's hard to say who it covers.

I feel like offence isn't really the main worry for them though, right? Like yeah, adding JT Miller for a year would be hilarious, but the main priority should be getting everyone healthy, and trying to run it back. A healthy Vegas team stomps the majority of that division, You trade a guy like Theodore, and in all likelihood you're trying to find a guy like Theodore a few months later. IMO he's as valuable, if not more, than Chychrun.

Edit: $6.5 mil cash for Dadonov next year, so maybe they try to do exactly what they already tried, which was acquire a LTIR contract to swap? If not, yeah, it might cost a bit more.
