Part of me thinks you could actually get back a piece for Simek from Arizona. Feels like they're gonna trade Ghost, which basically makes their entire D corps Jakob Chychurn and a bunch of guys with less than 50 career games - even though he's basically useless on offense, he's a very strong veteran defensive presence on a team that should want that. He also has a slightly front-loaded contract, meaning that his 2x$2.25M is only going to cost Arizona $2.15M/$1.95M - granted, it's only $400K but feels like they're gonna look for any way to get to the floor without spending to the floor possible. I could see them sending back a guy like Michael Carcone or maybe even throwing back the rights to Josef Korenar if the Sharks were interested, or maybe a later pick (5th/6th?). Just think he's got more value than a straight dump to a team like Arizona.

I know we can get something for him. He's far from a healthy scratch on AZ, he's a hard hitting shutdown type dman that would bode well for a rebuilder. I know his time in SJ is done, he was surpassed by Knyzhov, Ferraro and even Vlasic. Vlasic has actually played well with Merkley. SO yeah, Carcone or maybe make the pick a 2nd and get Jenik.
