Trades

  1. Kane, Patrick ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Extends $8x3

Barzal has his winger. No excuses
CHI
  1. Beauvillier, Anthony
  2. Wilde, Bode
  3. 2022 1st round pick (NYI)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
13th overall pick in the draft

Chicago doesn't own a first (went to Columbus). Kane is on an expiring deal. Hawks are heading towards a rebuild. Lou just made an incredibly ballsy move firing Trotz and probably feels the need to do something splashy.
2.
NYI
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
  2. Räty, Aku [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
"Hockey trade" - Isles get a stop gap LD for the year with offensive upside. Snagged Aatu Raty's brother just because. He's a former 7th round pick.
ARI
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. 2023 6th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
AZ also keeps NYI 2023 3rd previously tied to the Ladd trade. The Isles would get the pick back if he plays 1 game next season.

Bailey would play top-6 minutes and is owed less real cash than his AAV. AZ needs to get to the cap floor. He would provide some leadership to a young locker room.

You're a moron if you actually believe any of this crap you're spouting.

There is not one thing I said that is false, you can try to prove me wrong.

How could I? Want me to come over there and we can hash this out over Hawks tape? Analytics only account for a small part of the story, but you let them dictate your outlook so much that you think Beauvillier is comparable to Kane. There is no reasoning with that.

You can absolutely tell me Kane isn't the type of player the NYI's need and that is fine. But to sit there and act like he is washed up and not worth a comparable offer after he put up a 92 point season while playing injured is what is absurd. I have no loyalty to Kane but your worship of analytics gives you an annoyingly narrow view of players, teams, and the entire game of hockey. You think Cat inflates Kanes numbers, and I am telling you it is the other way around. Put Kane on a line with Barzal and watch Barzy finally look like a player that has a $8.4mil QO after next season.

Analytics account for more than a small part of the story, there’s a reason why the top teams in the NHL let analytics play a big role in this decision making. Chicagos lack of using analytics is the reason why they significantly overpaid for a 2nd pair caliber D and gave him 9.5 mill till he’s 35.

Kane being one of the worst defensive players in the league brings down his overall impact , I don’t know what’s so hard to understand. Sam Reinhart is a better player than Kyle Connor despite not having as many goals/points because Connor is a complete defensive liability at even strength. You don’t need your offensive stars to be great defensively, but being a liability and being one of the main reasons your team gives up a ton of high danger scoring chances brings down your overall impact.

We can ignore analytics and last season you can compare Kane and Beauvillier. At even strength , Beauvillier scored 1.09 goals per 60 min, 2.19 points per 60. Kane scored .67 goals per 60 min and 2.31 per 60 min. Then when you factor in Beauvillier was elite defensively on top of being very good offensively , at the very least they were comparable last season. If you want to ignore the facts that’s on you.

I never said Kane is washed, but he’s not a player with a star impact, he’s a good top 6 forward. You can think what you want with Kane and Debrincat, it’s just not true. The numbers don’t lie. Debrincat is a top 5 lw in the league. Barzal and Kane would not mesh well, Kane is a playmaker who’s a defensive liability. Barzal needs a player with more of a finishing touch and better forechecking ability.
