Well going with 20 man roster doesn't seem to be a good plan. If that is what it takes to sign "hometown" Gaudreau, I'd be surprised.

Anaheim is happy to accept a cap dump, especially for only one year, but it will be along the lines of the Backes trade -- a future bottom-half third-round draft pick isn't sufficient incentive.

Meh. They can always sell JVR at the deadline and essentially get a second rounder when all is said and done, maybe more. I think thats good for them considering they will be nowhere near the cap ceiling even after the deadline

Yeah, and we can always say No, too. If we're going to take a $7 million cap hit off your hands, we're going to get the payoff up front. It would be moronic to think that a payoff on the back end is guaranteed and plan on it.
