Giving Kadri 8 mill x 5 would be a huge mistake. He turns 32 in a few months and next season his numbers are going to fall off a cliff. I also don’t think Kadri is good as a winger.

It would take him through his age 36 season its true but he is the perfect fit next to barzal and hes going to get that from someone.

There’s maybe 2 players in the last decade who have signed a long term deal after their age 30 season and lived up to it. I don’t see Kadri as a perfect fit next to Barzal because he’s not as engaged when he’s playing wing.

Kadri will struggle to put up more than 55 points next season and he’s not a star player that will put the isles over the top. There’s better ways to spend 8 mill than on a player who can fall off a cliff at any moment.

There’s only one player worth signing in free agency and that’s Gaudreau if he’s willing to sign. He’s a superstar so you take the risk, Kadri is having a career season at age 31 on a super team.

The two teams that will be interested in signing Kadri are Philly and Seattle, both who have terrible GMs

I didnt realize you were a prophet. Gaudreau would be a terrible investment. Hes had major consistency problems then in a contract year he has a monster season youre going to give him an 8 figure contract only for him to revert back to the player that he is, a 70 point possession winger. Hes not a superstar and i hope they dont pay him what hes gonna get. Let calgary overpay him

It’s just a fact, nothing I said was false. A terrible investment lol - Over the past 3 years, Gaudreau has been a top 3 lw in the game. He’s never had a problem with consistency. He’s not a possession winger, he’s a winger that dominates quality shot share. He’s also consistently increased the rate that his team scores. Should be a Hart finalist.

Speaking of 70 points, Kadri has never hit 70 points in his career until this past season. It’s also ironic that you’re talking about contract seasons and then giving Kadri 8 mill after his numbers got boosted on a super team.gaudreau was a superstar before this season.

Johnny gaudreau was not a top 3 LW the last 3 seasons idk what youre smoking. The last 2 seasons he was on pace for 70 point seasons. Youre pulling things out of your ass to make up for a bad take. Im also not giving kadri 7×10+ 5×8 is very different. Plus stylistically he fits very well as opposed to gaudreau who does a lot of the same things barzal does.

he definitely was. He averaged less ice time than an average 1st liner , he only played 18:30 when most 1st liners get 19:30-21 min. You would think islanders fans know by now that going by points per game makes no sense when a coach chooses to roll 4 lines.

The difference between me and you is I can actually back up my statements. Gaudreau is better defensively and wins more board battles than Kadri so Im not sure where you're getting that he's stylistically fits well - do you mean he's old, slow and can't drive a line?

Here is Gaudreau's impact from the 20-21 season. This is a superstar impact. He had a better offensive impact than 95% of NHL forwards while being above average defensively. I thought he wasn't consistent ?

Kadri was nothing more than an average 3rd liner last season. This is the guy you want to give 8 mill to? lol - and since you love talking about points, Kadri wasn't even on pace to hit 50 last season.

This is a 3 year sample size of Gaudreau's impact, including the 19-20 , 20-21 seasons. He's in the 99th percentile for all forwards, he is 100% a top 3 left winger over the last 3 years. He's a two way stud. Darryl Sutter even called him one of the best 200 ft player in the league

So you're ignoring the analytics and saying Darryl Sutter (one of the best coaches in NHL history) is full of sh*t for calling Gaudreau one of the best two way forwards in the NHL

Johnny gaudreau, a grand total of zero selke votes over his entire career. Yes hes not one of the best 2 way forwards in the nhl. And calling darryl sutter one of the best coaches in nhl history completely destroys all credibility. He also never said that.

Gaudreau did receive a selke vote this season. Darryl Sutter won 2 cups and he always gets the most out of his teams. The flames were mediocre before he became Head coach and he turned them into a dominant possession team. Darryl Sutter did say that . You’re 0-3
