If Chicago elects not to qualify Strome, he becomes UFA. No need to trade a 3rd.

Yea, I just threw it in mostly as a placeholder. It's possible they could trade something for his rights. But ideally you wouldn't trade anything.

I'm not really sure if LA would be interested in Muzzin or what they would pay for him, but I assume that if they were interested in him they'd give up a modest return. It's hard to predict what teams would trade because bizarre transactions happen routinely, even ones involving the "smart" teams.

I've heard reports that they may not qualify and that's what this whole scenario is based on. I think that they certainly should do so. They didn't qualify Pius Suter last year!
As for goaltending, these are three guys that came in with pedigrees in the draft (well, two of them) and haven't gotten much of a shot. They've been decent where they have played and I'd expect that you should get average goaltending out of them at the cheap. That's better than what Toronto got last year and let's you invest elsewhere with no risk and some upside. If it doesn't pan out you can move to replace them. Better than tying up big money and term in an even older goalie that you just hope to be average, anyways.

{sigh} Yet another Jake-Muzzin-back-to-Los-Angeles foolishness. Have we reached the one-thousandth-time level yet?
