Description
A one line team just doesn't cut it in today's NHL. Cash strapped, thanks in large part to the albatross contracts of Benn and Seguin, after career defining performances yielded well-deserved extensions, prefacing unforgivable decline in performance in relation to dollar value. Replacement cost needs to be considered. Benn can no longer be an impact player, with 2021-22 being a 46 point season, mired with bad penalties and costly turnovers. His potential as a depth center is low, as better options present themselves. 3 years remaining, and one can only wonder how much worse things will get.

For Seguin, 49 points is an even bigger cause for concern, as he's 4 years removed from being a near point per game player, and with a plethora of injuries slowing down his production, there's little hope that being 1 year away from hip surgery will give us glimpses of the Seguin of old. Add in a broken foot from the postseason, and an Achilles injury from a few years before. It's safe to say that even if he regains a step, in a perfect world he could be at best an 60 point player making over 9.85 AAV for another 5 years. The cost savings of a buyout this year would yield over 4 million dollars in cap space. Worthwhile, if you ask me.

An offensive minded coach who doesn't penalize offensive players for making defensive errors (like Bowness did with Gurianov, namely), and the Stars will be in great shape to make some noise next season.

Moving Suter- 3 years remaining, in favor of Martinez, gives both players a fresh start, and relieves Vegas of the cap hit, while giving Dallas a favorable term (1 year less). Faksa has been long rumored to be of interest by Vegas. Martinez also fits the Stars' Spanish contingency, with newly-appointed Al Montoya at the helm to highlight a relationship with the Spanish (Mexican) community in efforts to grow the sport.

Additional Details:
Dallas sweetens Chychrun deal for AZ by giving them multiple young roster players which could help them in a rebuild. Dallas also gets a bit of cap relief by offloading Khudobin and bumping Tufte, Damiani and Harley from their depth chart as they've been supplanted by younger, more talented options.

Conditional 2nd round pick added as well.

Sorry to tell you but this team isn’t making any noise next year unless Johnson duplicates his Spitifre numbers lol

Harley, Tufte and Damiani have a combined 51 NHL games and Harley has 34 of those. I wouldn't consider anyone a roster players unless they have at least a full season under the belt. Gonna have to make that conditional 2nd a first, maybe add a second rounder or two as well.
