I feel like a lot of people are not doing these right. So I did the auto protect feature since I have seen people doing this where Tyler Seguin would get picked up by vegas... Yeah right. Doing it this way tales away the majority of highly skilled players that will for sure be protected.

So in this I feel like my goalies are stacked for years. I have no defense over 30 years old so even though there isn't too many long contracts you will be able to have a future with some of these guys (I did not pick up shattenkirk or alzner because I feel like 1 of those guys will end up protected) as I look at this more I feel like I should ha e found more than 1 minor league D man but at the time I was trying to make the minimum salary cap.
My offense is kind of hard to find strong forwards so that's why I grabbed sharp even though his contract is over. Also I picked Vermette instead of Silfverberg because i wanted to make sure to have a strong faceoff man. Also i know i picked up a few guys that had a very weak season but they have potential. For example Colbourne did terrible this year but he was on Colorado so what do you expect. He had like 40-50 points the year before on Calgary.

Also salary cap wise I am in the clear. I have room for a big free agent signing or some of these short contracts. A few guys need to be resigned for a bit. I only have like 4 kind of long contracts so I need the cap space to resign a lot of guys in the next few years.

Tell me your thoughts

My immediate thoughts are Vegas won't select that many expiring contracts. I also think Caronlina signs Darling and exposes Ward/Lack. The Pens will also make a deal to get both Fleury and Murray protected. Just my two cents.

Oh yeah I didn't think about Darling. I personally think that the pens will trade fluery to get something for him and have Murray start which I should have taken into account. But in that case I'll take Raanta and without looking at the other goalies I'll take Lack. Still a pretty solid tendy set up.

Also I agree with the contracts but it's hard finding longer ones at least the way I did it. But that's also why I kept the salary cap so low. They have like 30 mill to spend on some of these expiring guys.

Vermette is not a good player. Only way he gets taken if Anaheim makes some kind of deal but thats a lot of moving parts with Josh Manson and Silf/Rakell not being protected with all those NMC

Totally agree. I'd be surprised if they select a single 2017 UFA.

A few notes:
1) No way LVN select 17 forwards & only 10 defensemen. With so many quality defensemen available they should be grabbing near the maximum allowed & then dealing this excess for young prospects to stock their farm team.
2) Way too many 2017 UFA's. See above.
3) Not enough 2017 RFA's. They will be Vegas biggest currency in terms of building their team
4) Hickey from the Islanders? De Haan is likely the best player being made available to Vegas. Unless you think Islanders plan to protect him over Hamonic, I see no scenario that doesn't have De Haan both available & selected. Hoping the Jets work out a trade for him over the course of expansion draft weekend.

I also agree with maximizing the defensemen that are available in this expansion. But I would select 4 goalies first. I think you need 4 to allow for injuries and there are plenty of potential starters, backups and minor league goalies available.
Agree with too many UFA's...
