Gives Ott a d in top four that can play either side and allows to be more active in FA, and Seattle gets the top ten pick

Oleksiak is a #4 D at best. We will ignore that he has a full NTC and isn't going to waive to go to Ottawa since they are one of the least desirable destinations in the league. This would be highway robbery. The Zaitsev contract is not that bad at this point. Still negative value, but not by anywhere near as much as before, because most of the term is gone. Colin White's buyout only costs 875k.

If Matt Murray was in this trade, that might make sense to me. The cap dumps are not enough to necessitate giving up 7th overall and a B prospect.

Brendan Dillon was traded last off season for two 2nd round picks. That might be a fair comparable for Oleksiak. Let's be generous, and say Seattle really likes Kleven, so Kleven who was selected 44th 2 years ago is worth a 2nd. Taking Zaitsev and White's 875k buyout doesn't bring that other 2nd round pick up to 7th overall, even if it is a weak draft up top.
