Verbeek apprenticed under Yzerman. There's no way he's trading 2 first round picks for a player who will leave in UFA in 2 years. Plus he'll give Comtois next season to make it or break it. Ducks have no reason to trade Stolarz. If Verbeek gets an offer he can't refuse for Gibson, having Stolarz is good insurance.

Coyotes can do much better. Getting Chychrun and dumping Mrazek in the same trade? LOL

Pool party isn't worth a 1st. Seattle won't pay a 2nd for Kerfoot when they can sign him as a UFA next summer.

You're lowballing Boosh and Joey Anderson is an AHL plug because he can't skate fast enough.

Campbell gets 5 mil AAV. Leafs may not pay it but other teams will. Ullmark got 5 mil AAV from Boston last summer.

Ya? What’s wrong with that? Kapenen got the 15th pick plus a couple years ago and nylander is probably twice the player.
Have to say this again today too, he’s not going to retire in 2 years, extend him next summer or trade him and get back some of the assets you spent. Why couldn’t the ducks convince him to stay anyways?
Gotta take some risk at some point, not every trade target is gonna come with an 8 year deal.

I don’t view mrazek as much of a cap dump as everyone is saying. I don’t think he needs a premium asset attached to be moved and some team will be willing to take a chance on him. If they pay a lot I’ll admit I’m wrong but I think he’s mostly viewed as a massive cap dump here because he plays for the leafs.
So Arizona is getting a young d that can play in their top 4 right away, a winger that can play right away. Both players will only get better. Holl can be flipped for a pick and you get 2 firsts.
When I was putting the deal through I was second guessing if this is good for the leafs even.
If campbell wants 5 then they will have to go with someone else. I think they are going to be praying their goaltending holds up no matter what they do

What’s wrong with that is that the ducks aren’t contending right now. Why trade a bunch of future capital that can help them win when they’re ready for someone who will help them go from ~10th overall pick next year to ~13th, with no assurance he’ll be around when they’re competing. We aren’t saying the value is dead wrong, we’re saying the trade partner makes no sense. He doesn’t fill their needs right now, while what they’re trading away does

Ok that’s fair. I think the ducks could be a playoff team next year if they made some moves this off season. Depends how you look at it, it is fair to say they should just keep building up prospects. But if they add a couple impact players this off season they could make a big jump next year, especially in that division.
