Top 6 center? Why would it.

Dumping Lucic? Sure. Not Monahan though

I was of the opinion that he had a brutal year and was gonna cost stuff to move him and his contract

He played the whole season injured, when he actually approached the team about a potential issue they got him x-rays and he needed his other hip replacement surgery. Monahan has a habit of playing through injuries. For example last year when he got the left hip done he was injured in game 6 of the season but played until game 50

The Flames will absolutely have to give up assets to get rid of Monahan's contract in a trade. He is far from a top 6 center right now. He struggled mightily the last 2 seasons. And he's had 2 hip surgeries. There is no way a team gives up assets to bring him in.

His struggles the last 2 seasons are 100% because he needed hip replacements. It's no different from Tarasenko struggling the previous 2 seasons because he needed shoulder surgery both times.
