Pacioretty for Hischier?

Description
Getting #1 C's require bold moves. I wouldn't move Pacioretty for an older player to play C-1, but getting a kid like Hischier would be interesting to consider. Might cost us a little more than Pacioretty, but i wouldn't give up the farm for a kid who isn't even guaranteed to be the #1 pick.

Why would Philly do this? They need a future #1 C to replace Giroux not another winger. The only way Philly trades this pick is for a player like MacKinnon, rights to Draisaitl, Barkov etc. Not saying an even trade for any of them just saying Philly holds the upper hand. You more likely see a trade like Galenychuk, plus for #2 overall

I don't see why Philly would do that. Patches isn't the missing piece they need for a serious Cup run in the next 2 years.

PHI had two C's this year get 58 & 55 pts this year in Giroux & Schenn. Couturier got 34 in 66 gp. Not to mention, Giroux & Couturier each won 55% of their faceoffs this season. They have offensive output, defensive responsability, and faceoff skill.

PHI is very much in need of a LW. Their top scoring LW when looking up NHL.com stats had 11 pts. On top of that, they have (according to Pierre McGuire... for what that's worth) a very deep pool of prospects. If ever a team was in position to let go of a top 2 pick to make their team good now, it's PHI.

Pacioretty is a 30 goal scorer with size and a favorable contract for the next 2 seasons. Maybe we need to send more than Pacioretty, but it's not like we need to send Pacioretty AND Galchenyuk to get this deal done.
      Pacioretty and a 1st?

Michal Neuvirth is their only NHL goalie under contract for next season. Is there interest in Charlie Lindgren? Could PHI view Lindgren as a better option than Stolarz to compete for icetime with Neuvirth next season?

They have tons of cap space. Should PHI take their current roster, add Pacioretty and sign maybe Bishop, that likely makes their team really good for next season.

Another way of looking at it: what if PHI decides it doesn't want this proposed deal, would you consider acquiring Giroux or Schenn? Giroux is 28, 8.25M$ cap hit for 5 more seasons. A serious upgrade over Plekanec as a 2-way center. Maybe PHI drafts Hischier or Patrick and needs to make room for him on the roster. Surely a team with Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, and a 2nd overall pick needs to shed one of those guys to make room on the roster. I'd take Giroux on my team for Pacioretty. Their are serious cap implications in this deal with Giroux making 8.25 and Pacioretty making 4.5.

We don't have that much cap and Pacioretty wouldn't be enough for #2. You would need to send a Galchenyuk or another FORWARD prospect., since we have enough D and goaltending like you mentioned. If there is a logjam at forward, #2 will get sent to juniors, plain and simple. After the playoff run Patches had, his value will not match #2.

Philly is hardly a team for right now. The core may be in its prime, but we lack an elite goaltender, a top 2 dman, and reliable scoring depth. So I would pass on the deal as you have it presented now.
