Chicago is rumored to not even wanting to qualify Strome. Can be signed as UFA then

I don’t c how he isn’t qualified tbh lol. Isles make that trade without picks but idk that Lou would be eager to retain and send picks.

Young D Old goalie. Its abput the future and NYI needs Dmen. They may qualify him but do they want to keep him at 4M? either way they are prop getting rid of him.

Isles won’t retain cause they have cap issues imo. Maybe the Colorado pick but not next years.

Ya but deal likely happens after free agency when things have settled

It’s still a lot to ask for with retention

I am going off the assumption NYI makes the playoffs next year and the pick is higher in the draft. retention is obviously to make the deal work and give some extra cap to NYI. maybe a lower pick works but just working on options for leafs that work for other teams too.

I just think the cost of retention at 50% for a full season is already a 2nd round pick. If it was one for one I’d get it.

I agree there is value to it but the value lies more in the cap hit then the actual $ for most teams. The retention lies in the actual cap value of the player in question. Is a 1b or back up goalie worth 5M to NYI? Probably not? is a young D with lots of potential worth 1.5M? Probably not? Whole season or trade deadline mean little I think. In the end I was just looking for an average goalie with some experience. The 1A goalie for the leafs maybe comes at the deadline? Goalies are so hard to value... That being said maybe Lou gets a better offer!

The cost to go from #31 or #32 to #25 shouldn't be more than Arizona's third-round pick (#66), not NY's second (#45).

I’m just saying ur probably not getting retention and a pick for Sandin. That’s far from an unreasonable statement.
