Panarin is better than Pasta and cap hit is essentially the same, no go
Panarin (4th in pts among active players) and Pastrnak (5th in goals among active players) are comparables, one is just a playmaker so he has more pts, while other is a goal scorer
In the last 6 years Pasta has a 1.09 Pts/G ratio (14th best), and the 5th most goals (behind Matthews, Ovechkin, Draisaitl, and McDavid).
Panarin has 1.15Pts/G (tied for 9th) which is good for 6th most points in the last 6 years (Kucherov missed a whole season, so he has 25 points less but a 1.33Pts/G, so you can think of Panarin as 7th most).
If you compare just career pts total it looks like Panarin is way better maybe, but you got to take into acc that Panarin started 7 years ago when he was 24 and was pretty much a pt/g since. Pasta started 8 years ago when he was 18, but it took him 2 years to get to a pt/game+ production which is why I compared them based off the last 6 years.
Even if you look at career totals though Pastrnak has a healthy amount of goals more than Panarin. If you think of goals being worth 2 points since they are arguably twice as important, Panarin would only have 12 more pts in two less games.
