This is more value from ANA than 97% of Capfriendly users would suggest. The average view is that Monahan is worth negative value.

I disagree and think CGY will get a mid pick for Monahan. That said, Dube is worth a 2nd. So maybe CGY considers this if it’s ANA’s 2nd + 5th?

Monahan is a cap dump. 6.375M 4th liner with injury issues. CGY has to pay to get rid of him. For example, Stralman at 5.5M took a prospect and a future 2nd to move. Monahan will take something similar imo.

If you value Dube at a 2nd then a 3rd for him and Monahan is more than fair.

I wouldn’t do this with a 3rd included — if they don’t want to deal Dube for just taking Monahan, then I’d take the 2nd and call it good

Shoot man, add Lucic too and get a 2nd for him or make it a 1st and 3rd for the two

A lot of misinformation here. Monahan is a cap casualty if traded (ie Miller and Schmidt to VAN). He is a top 6 center when healthy and not overpaid like your example of Stralman.

Monahan also doesn't have "injury issues" he had a single major injury this year and got surgery to fix the problem. Now if you want to argue he has injury history thats different, but as of right now he should be assumed as healthy with no injury whatsoever.

Now talk about misinformation. Monahan isn’t a top 6 forward. And if a second hip surgery isn’t an injury issue then what is?

Why isn't he a top 6 center? He's played top 6 every year of his career except this one where he was clearly injured all season?

Do you understand the purpose of surgery? They are performed to fix an injury/problem in the human body. Obviously if Monahan is traded it means his surgery was successful and he is no longer injured. Thus there is no "injury issue."

Nah, you’re right. A 27 year old with 7 seasons straight of 20+ goals… averaging 26.5 goals per year even including two terrible injury seasons and 3rd/4th line minutes while hurt… who can score like clockwork playing with the highest skilled players… who has a career faceoff percentage above 50.5%… not a top 6 guy.

And his hips have both had surgery now and are better than they’ve been for years. He injured the 2nd hip playing through a bad 1st hip and putting way more strain on his good leg until it busted.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: “we’ll see”. Let’s revisit what value he fetches when he gets traded. I’m betting it’s above a coin flip that he nets assets to CGY. You can bet the other side.
