So Calgary looses a top 4 defenseman with no immediate replacement and gets a more expensive winger for their 3rd/4th line while they are in a major cap crunch?

Kempe is a top six winger so if you were to play on Calgarys third line then this trade would make no sense. But it would make sense in the event that Calgary cannot keep Gaudreau, Thachuk , and Mangiapane. Well of course you guys wouldn't trade him one for one, you're desperate to have him play on your middle pairing with Tanev.Otherwise you would just be overvaluing him in comparison to Kempe
