I am not sure if the Backlund for Eberle trade is reasonable (ie. does Eberle cost more than 1 pick)? Also is it possible to sign Ryan Strome (if NY Rangers cannot resign him)? Are the RFA contracts reasonable or too much of an overpayment? Are any of the UFA signings here possible?

I like the Rutta signing. That’s about it though lol. I wouldn’t touch Strome (much rather go after Kadri or Trocheck, or even Copp), and while I wouldn’t be against trading for Eberle in general, we’re not deep enough up the middle to move Backlund. We also aren’t gonna trade Monahan or Lucic with retention, that kinda defeats the purpose, and teams will still want some compensation for Lucic (I wouldn’t be surprised to see Monahan’s full contract for future considerations happen). It’ll cost a 2nd to dump Lucic, hopefully nothing to dump Mony. And at that point we’d have the money to overpay Johnny to stay, since he’s said that’s what he wants.

This should be like plan Q. And Treliving should be fired for this. All 3 trades are horrible for Calgary and that is a massive overpayment on Monahan 2.0 from free agency
