Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the Oilers deal isn’t allowed by the league as it’s cap circumventing.

Gudas on the 2nd pair is a bad idea
He may be tough, but he’s not very good at hockey

And i don’t thinkyour Duncan Keith idea is allowed
If you’re traded & bought out, u can’t return to your former team for a full season (i believe)

And then they made the rule so teams couldn’t continue to circumvent the cap like that

It was allowed at the time as Colorado did not have explicit talks about buying out Orpik as a part of the trade, and the NHL didn't want to punish Washington for something that wasn't exactly known as circumvention, however the NHL warned if it happens again it will be considered cap circumvention

Wow. Didn't know about this, this trade proposal has been going on for a while even within media circles.

It is not cap circumvention. It has been rumored all over the media about this scenario happening with Arizona. I just chose to do it with Buffalo.
