they need a 2C that can provide offense. Not saying this trade is good or not but every team can use JT Miller.

Canes need a goal scoring winger right now, not another playmaker. Canes also are not giving all that value for a pure rental.

The Canes have no need for Miller. We already have enough centers as is, and Miller will likely never have the season he just had again. If the Canes make a move, it’s for a goal scoring winger, which Miller is not.

Who do you see as their 1-4 Cs next year? Not trying to argue just wondering how a Canes fan would like to see their lineup shake out.

They have Necas, and KK already both are more than capable of playing 2C if Trocheck walks.

Going into next season with Necas and KK as your middle six C’s is a big downgrade. I don’t think you can matchup against a lot of the east in the playoffs with that

Aho is the clear 1C, with Staal as the clear 3C. Assuming that Trocheck walks and Necas doesn’t get traded, I would expect KK and Necas to split time as 2C, depending on what side of the ice the draw is taken on. As for 4C, it’s very likely going to be Drury that gets elevated out of Chicago. I feel like that is the most likely scenario to occur, but then again, this would all depend on Trocheck walking and Necas not getting traded, so there is a margin for error in my assessment.

Vancouver fans are so eager to shove Miller at Carolina for exuberant prices, yet very few seem to actually look at the Canes cap situation, specifically for the 2024 off-season, and why Miller to Carolina will never work. A big chunk of the core needs to be resigned that offseason, with the biggest names being Aho, Turbo, Jarvis, Skjei, Pesce, and potentially Drury as well. That’s also not counting the players down in Chicago or the players that they sign between now and then that may expire that year. Miller was reported to want an 8x8 contract or something of the sort, and Vancouver fans eagerly point out that Staal, Fast, Freddie, and Raanta are coming off the books next year. While that is true, next year really isn’t the problem, and giving Miller, who when his next deal begins will be on the wrong side of 30, that massive contract, will force the Canes to more than likely let players like Turbo and Skjei walk instead of resigning them. Just my opinion, but I would much rather lock up both Turbo and Skjei to long term deals and not acquire Miller than lose both for nothing and be anchored with that Miller contract.

I do apologize for my rant, but the Canes will not chuck that much value at a pure rental. If they go for a rental, it would be an acquisition like Domi, who won’t cost much to bring in but is an impact player. And that is historically how the Canes have operated.

Is it a big downgrade, KK ranked pretty high in 5v5 points per 60 this year.
