Verbeek hangs on to all his draft picks (for now) and makes two big signings while using cap space and positional surpluses to bring in NHL-ready talent...

Manson signing: High probability of this happening. Ducks fill a need/Manson's family is in Orange County. Win-win.

Burakovsky signing: Bura takes the payday after winning his second cup and finds himself on a top line oozing with offensive talent as well as the #1 PP unit.

PIT trade: Anaheim gets a needed middle-6 RW with offensive talent who needs a change of scenery. Pens begin to replenish a depleted prospect pool by adding a LHD a year away from being NHL ready (Dumoulin replacement?)

EDM trade: Ducks get a scoring right-shot prospect and an NHL ready defensive-defenseman to take on the Kassian's contract. Oilers free up needed cap space while not having to trade away draft picks and acquire two Edmonton-born, cheap NHL players needing a change of scenery. Steel can easily play bottom 6 C/LW for EDM and Mahura is a smooth puck-moving 6/7th D.

This team is climbing toward contention, but still a ways out. That said, if they get off to another hot start, I'd like to see Verbeek spend some of that '23 draft capital to bring in an impact player or two with some term.
