Description
miller gets to go to a competitive team in a pseudo 3 way deal with LA. Minnesota has a lack of high end talent at C and Van has a lack of RD prospects (and prospects in general) so I see this as a win for all involved. The only question mark is does minny have the space to extend Miller after the year. Axe the second rounder if you think it's too much. I add Kyle Burroughs as a token of good faith to minny fans.

swap nils for Jesse for a mutual change of scenery deal. Maybe Vancouver adds a bit but it sounds like holland is about to goof that one up if you believe the rumour mill. I think Puljujarvi would compliment Horvat's game well since Horvat essentially plays like a one man line and Jesse can help create space for him.

Rutta is signed to replace Myers at a cheaper deal while Faber develops. I think Rutta is better than Myers anyway. With the cap space opened up by moving Miller and Myers, you have options there. I'd be happy with PK, Kulak, or Justin Schultz for example as 2 year stop gaps at 2nd pair RD.

I think the Buffalo deal is ok for both teams. Buffalo gets better in the deal while not adding much in cap while Vancouver get's a bit of cap space and a shorter term commitment. By the time Buffalo is actually good Myers' and Pearson's deals will be up. I'm hoping Allvin can work some magic like he did with Hamonic with Myers but I don't want to assume that he will at the risk of angering a fan base needlessly (looking at you, Ottawa)

At the draft I'd love to grab the Djurgarden's lads, with Ohgren at 15, Ostlund at 19 and which ever of Havelid or Odelius is available at the 47 slot that I traded for from Minny. I prefer them over Lekerrimakki anyway.

Signed a bit of cheap depth that I think might be worth a swing on. yes i know it's not *that* Sebastian Aho

I don't think Okposo waives his NTC and he's rumoured to be their next captain. I also can't see Minnesota parting with that many futures for a 1 year rental

Minnesota declines easily. They aren't trading for a rental. They didn't trade for Minnesota born and only RHD besides Calen addison whose in their system to trade him. you added Kyle burrough as a peace offering to Minnesota fans? Some 7th or 8th Dman, or ahl dman? No you didn't.

We've been offered more futures from around the league for a "1 year rental". I agree that any team trading for Miller likely does so with an eye to resign him. I mentioned in the preamble that i felt it would make sense for Minny to resign him. he's around the age of brodin. I think it's risky to peeve kaprizov by relying only on the prospects for the next few years

It would make sense to resign Miller but they simply can't with how tight the money is

That's fair, did a 2023-24 Wild ACGM to check your math, and you're pretty much right. If the cap only goes up say $1 million to $83.5 million, the wild would basically have to choose between keeping Dumba or resigning Miller.

No, Minnesota still declines. Guerin isn't interested in trading for rentals, so no. Ge doesn't like giving 1st round pick or prospects for rentals
