Are we really overvaluing JT Miller's trade value, or are other fanbases undervaluing him as an asset?

Fans on both sides overvalue their prospects and undervalue others. What we can do is compare Miller to other trades to see what deal Miller earns.

Kevin Fiala was an un-signable RFA on a cap-strapped Minnesota team. He earned the Wild the 19th OA + Faber, a blue-chip prospect.

Miller has been better than Fiala each of the past three seasons, is a center and has 1 year of an extremely affordable contract. Any trade involving him would likely have an extension.

Jack Eichel + Cond. 2023 3rd went for Tuch, Krebs, Cond. 2022 1st, and Cond. 2023 2nd.

Miller has been healthier than Eichel, is more affordable the 1 year, and has the same P/PG. That said, Miller is 4 years older.

The Canucks ask of a 1st Round Pick + Blue-Chip Prospect + U23 Roster player is comparable to both trades and isn't unreasonable.

Anyone offering less than that is undervaluing Miller, anyone offering more than that is overvaluing Miller.
