Description

Caps start the season with over $17mil on LTIR but all three come back at some point in the regular season. This would be the worst case for the Caps.

When everyone comes back, send one of Snively, AJF, or Protas down to create needed room.

What would be interesting is if Hags hangs it up, they would have an additional $2.75mil. Here you can trade Eller, sign Copp and a forward (like Namestnikov) for under $2.25mil. Unfortuneatly, Hags is waiting to see until August.

Does this team make the playoffs - not in my opinion.

Need a 3rd team to retain on Varly for the Isles to do this. We would pay VV somewhere between $2-2.5m anyways so for cap purposes it's a wash.

I think the whole idea of a Varly trade is to save cap, this deal gives them 500k relief assuming they keep/sign Vanecek at that number

Then it would be Varly for VV (which saves the Isles $2.5+mil and then a 2nd given to a team to retain 50% of Varly contract.
