There would be no need for the Flyers to give up their 2nd in the trade with Chicago if they could just go to New Jersey and gain a 2nd, by your trade logic.

Not all trades in this situation happen at the same time. The second trade is a deadline trade and NJ will not want to pay $7 million where Phil is looking to dump the whole cap. Comparatively, NJ has made it clear they want to push for a playoff spot and they lack wingers. They easily could make that deal at the deadline and again Flyers get the full cap dump minus the cap hit of a young player coming back.
