I don't hate that Garland trade, but why would Vancouver want Brannstrom? They already have like 9 NHL quality defencemen on payroll

Not a bad target for a bridge. Huge leap in his finishing, and a huge drop off in his defensive play. Not the worst idea to see how he stabilizes out over the next two years.
