I keep hearing how none of our defensemen have value, but then, like magic, Romanov gets traded for 13 OA and then for Kirby Dach. We must have a wizard at GM if the fans evaluations are expected to hold up.

Ridiculous comparing a goalie that lets in beach balls to a top4 RHD. You'd have to be blind and deaf to have not heard Hughes say they will only trade him for assets. They got Romanov for a top pick by your logic that makes Hakanpaa worthy of a 1st. Trades dont exist in a vacuum

In this crappy season Petry managed 27points, much lower then usual, which puts him at 73rd in the league amongst defenseman. In the 4 seasons prior he averaged 42.5 pts per season, putting him around 30th in the league, or 15th amongst RHD. I think the top +- 10RHD are untouchable/not up to be traded.

I believe Petry for a 2nd is a gift. I don't doubt our GM has a better offer than that on the table, but wants a 1st and a prospect which is probably a bit rich.

A mid 2nd in 2023 is equivalent mid-late 1st in 2022. That draft is deep

Comparing Romanov and Petry on value is folly. Ones at the beginning of his career and one at its end. Regardless of how Petry finished the year the first half damaged his value. Gm’s have seen the possibility of the cliff being near and a 3 year commitment could be tragic.
