i think if miller had any interest in playing here that the trade would have happened at the draft

Apparently Millers ask on a contract was crazy which is why Canucks didn’t let Lou talk to the agent before the trade. Didn’t want it to leak out to the rest of the league and then it would lower the price VAN could get

Easy there Mike milbury. Trading a 2023 1st and Wahlstrom for an aging vet isn’t the way

between the concerns about the extension and the mid return for debrincat i think the canucks are in a rough spot moving miller. i wonder how it'll all turn out.

I bet you the return was probably something like 2022 1st, Salo and Holmstrom. Deal was almost done and Lou didn’t like that it leaked and that he wasn’t allowed to talk to the agent.

I think they’ll end up getting a 2023 1st, 2nd and a decent prospect

With the Forsberg extension, Miller probably gets 8.5AAV. I don’t think the Isles make a good trade partner for Miller anyway as I don’t really see what pieces Vancouver would want outside of the 2023 first

Vancouver made a mistake not trading him at the 2022 trade deadline , I think his value is lower right now especially if he’s asking for a huge contract. After the Debrincat trade I don’t see how he gets much more than a 2023 1st. Maybe they wait till next deadline but that’s risky because miller could fall off

The DeBrincat trade was an anomaly and everybody knows that. Allvin is not going to settle for less than he wants. Now that Forsberg is staying with Nashville, the leaves Kadri and Gaudreau as the big name UFas both commanding a big paycheck right now. Whoever misses out on those two will definitely be desperate for Miller. A player coming off a 99 point season at potentially the cheap price of 2.5 million dollars with retention, is going to cost a pretty penny. If the Canucks can’t get a good return, might as well keep him and extend him themself

The trade set the market, there’s no reason for any team to pay more for miller. Even as a rental with 50% retained I don’t see how they get more than a 1st,2nd + prospect

First, second, and prospect is reasonable value. Earlier you said you don’t see him getting more than a 2023 first which confused me

I said “much more”. In the comment you QT included the 2nd rd pick and prospect
