110% the oilers would do that only problem is I think we should retain a million to make it fair. I knew we should of took scheif over RNH hahah

The team itself looks good especially with RNH as a 3rd Line center until you realize you've done exactly the reason that makes RNH expendable to the Oilers...you can't pay a 3rd line C 6M when you've got some expensive RFAs coming up. Coming off the books in 1 year you'd have Enstrom and Little freeing up 10M adding to the 3M currently available to sign Trouba (7-8M), Morrisey (4-6M) , Ehlers (5-6.5M), Murray (4-5M), Armia (2-4M), Petan (??) then, and that's assuming you're not resigning Little or Enstrom even at discounts you can't afford the RFAs.

Jets will have a tricky situation ahead with managing the CAP while also getting better... going to be an interesting off season

^ This. The cap will be the biggest problem for the jets in a couple years when the kids need contracts (similar to the oilers with McJesus) and at that point the last thing you need is an overpaid 3C. As long as we have Buff's contract on the books we cannot bring in a big contract with term considering how many RFAs we have. Unless we bridge all of them lol then we get totally screwed with the cap.

    Ok here are my thoughts.....

    1. Our situation is very very different than the Oilers. They have McDavid and Draisatl on the depth chart ahead RNH for the long term. We have one year of Little until his deal is up. We have the 6M in cap space next year so why not have a luxury of RNH as a 3rd line center. After next season Little's deal is up and we can let him walk and he slides up to our 2nd line center spot. I love Little but I'd rather have RNH at 6 mill from 25-30 years old than Little from 30-35 mill and Little will command what RNH makes.

    2. We don't have to lock up every young guy on a long term deal after their initial ELC is done. Morrissey has one more year and then we can bridge him at a lower number for 2 years. Petan will be cheap cheap cheap.....he has 3 goals in 80 games he won't get more than 1-1.5 mill per.

    3. We don't have to keep every single RFA either......good chance we trade someone like Armia to recycle him for ELC and prospects/picks. We'd rather pay a 2nd line center 6 mill than a 3rd line winger for 3-4 mill.
