Basically JP for Brown, He only has one year left on his deal then he's a UFA so it hurts his trade value unless they can get him an extension before the trade. Throwing in Benson to annoy everyone who still loves this kid cause they went to 3rd grade with him

Brown scored 10 goals last year, he's a 3rd liner making $3.6M. He's one of the least physical players in the league and has a reputation for disappearing in the playoffs.

What makes you think he's worth JP as a rental?

Oilers fans read this: Forget Soucy(+pick) for Barrie, Kraken are not doing that. No interest in Barrie when Free Agency is two days away.

If you want Soucy, you'll need to give up picks/prospects for him.

How does free agency being only 2 days away affect either player's values?

He scored 21 goals in 56 games 2 year ago... and in case you didn't know JP only had 14 goals last year and 15 the year before so lets not pretend that JP is so much better than Brown lol. As for the playoffs, he's only been in the playoffs 3 times, all with the leafs and their entire team disappears in playoffs lol.

Why I think he's a fit here; he has history with McDavid back in Erie. He can skate well and is a pretty smart hockey player. This is a guy who put up 128 points in JR with McDavid and probably just needs a change of scenery and could be very effective.

except barrie is exactly the type of player Seattle would need. Which is exactly why the Kracken are talking to the Oilers about Barrie right now lol. You want a PP QB whos gonna get 35-50 points a year in free agency? lol for 6M bucks maybe

I don't think you're grasping the fact that he's (a) making more than Puljujarvi likely will, (b) a 1 year rental and (c) 4 years older than JP with no untapped potential left.

This besides the fact that he's not physically involved in the game and doesn't go to the hard areas of the ice. He's the exact opposite type of player that McDavid needs.

Seattle has repeatedly said they're looking to improve the team via Free Agency, not by trade. If Soucy is moved it'll be for futures.

Because the Kraken has no interest in upgrading the current roster by trade, they've said multiple times they'll look to upgrade the current roster via Free Agency, and use trades to improve the future around Beniers/Wright. They've plenty of cap space to use on short-term solutions to try for a playoff bid, but if that fails they're plenty happy to trade the veteran players at TDL for futures that will help the team have long-term success.
