Eric Francis has tried to run Gaudreau out of town literally every summer for years. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

No, he just called it as it is. you could see it coming a mile away. There was doubt JG was even going to sign here out of college. This is a huge setback for the organization.

Agree with the last sentence. Couldn't agree less with the first. Francis is one of the worst writers there is. He has no inside information, he just spews what he thinks makes for the juiciest headline.

Well, he just predicted the biggest let down in the organizations history and he was right. Coulda got something massive in return...

He didn't predict it though, because he's been saying it for years and it never happened, none of that was ever based on information, just clickbait. Like I said, even a broken clock is right twice a day. If I told you the sun was going to set every hour of the day until it did, would you give me credit for predicting that?

No, he didn't just pull that out of a hat. He's been interviewing the guy since he got here and he said all along he didn't feel that he was going to stay in calgary once he hit free agency. Similar situation in long island. People new Tavares wanted to go home.

Gaudreau has literally been quoted multiple times over the years saying that he loves Calgary and could see himself retiring here. He's never said he wanted out, or he would have been traded. Francis doesn't know anything, and doesn't deserve even getting his article clicked on, because you're not gonna learn anything.

dude, do you actually think any player is going to say no I actually really want to leave here. He has to say that crap. He was being polite and everyone fell for it. It's now obvious it has nothing to do with money and the fact he doesn't wanna stay . The most money on the table is in CGY

Yeah, I do. If you don't want to play somewhere you ask for a trade. There's precedent and several players do it every year. Guys like Trouba and Bennett made it public that they wanted out, and they ended up in different places, and their teams got value for them. That way you get what you want sooner (don't have to wait for 7+ years to get to unrestricted free agency), and the team gets something out of it too. There's no place for being polite. There's only room for being straightforward.

No one is saying he wanted to be traded, the OP was about Francis saying JG was going to walk if he got to free agency and that's exactly what he's doing. Not every player feels comfortable asking for a trade and some are just fine paying their dues until they get to UFA status. Just ask how many people respect Adam Fox in this city.
