Right now, the flames have hanifin, andersson, tanev, and zadorov under contract from last year's defence. They've been linked to muzzin, they need to add on defence, and contract talks with mangiapane have reportedly stalled. This move works for both teams. They get picks/prospects to acquire more pieces, and fill out the defence so they don't have to rely on zadorov to play top-4 minutes.

You have to explain why Muzzin leaves him "hometown" for Calgary. I assume because you want cap space. Another ridiculous 20 man roster.

Muzzin has been linked to calgary in the past, plays the type of game that sutter likes, and muzzin liked playing with sutter (and would still want to be on a competing team, which calgary still is).

Flames linked to Muzzin by some guy in a coffee shop in Toronto tweeting. Just because a leaf fan boy tweets it does not constitute interest by the Flames.
