The odds the oilers get a better deal than this is slim to none. I know oilers fans are going to come in saying “he’s not being traded for futures. Holland wants a piece to help them win now”
I get your point but I find it highly unlikely that anybody offers up a piece that actually helps their team win for puljujarvi as the teams that have those pieces and are tanking will receive better offers for their guys and not too many teams are interested in puljujarvi according to NHL insider Darren drager. The canes wings and preds are three of the teams in on him per Jason Gregor and I see the canes outbidding the wings and preds as neither team would likely give up a player that would be of immediate impact. I see the oilers selling low on him and the canes capitalizing and putting him on the third line but it’s not really a third line as in rods system there aren’t any lines, more player combinations and puljujarvi would get plenty of opportunity to play with top end talent from aho to necas to kk to staal as his centers. Again oilers fans, I know what you are going to say, but please realize there isn’t much of a market for puljujarvi and he wants out. Odds are two seconds are the best return they get, maybe a second and prospect

If a team was willing to pony up two 2nds for JP, I think he’d be gone. I wouldn’t make that trade from a CAR perspective. I’d give up the 2024 2nd from PHI, take it or leave it.

if we were going to sign him that deal, save a 2nd and offer sheet him.
