Description
"Performance bonuses are only paid to the player if they meet the requirements as defined by the bonus. Performance bonuses count against the salary cap; however, a team can exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses by the maximum performance bonus cushion amount of 7.5 percent of the upper limit. Not all players are eligible for Performance Bonuses, and to receive a bonus within their contract, a player must meet one of the following criteria: 2. The player has signed a one-year contract and is over 35 years old." - CapFriendly

82,500,000 * 0.075 = 6,187,500 - 150,000 (Swayman's max performance bonus) = 6,037,500 over the cap to sign Krejci + Bergeron and be compliant. My assumption is that they will make the majority of the signing bonus for both players ridiculously easy to reach (play 15- 20 games), and the minority will consist of making playoffs, winning the cup, etc (similar to Chara)

After signing Zacha for (max) 3.2M for 2-3 seasons, this leaves the Bruins with about 2.6M, also assuming Foligno plays and Wagner is sent to Providence (which is most probable plan)

The 2.3M will act as insurance for depth pieces (that is IF Bergeron and Krejci do not surpass the 6M allocation, which they most likely wont), which can be utilized by young guns such as McLaughlin, Studnicka, and Achan

For now, I think the Bruins make these two signings and wait until Marchand and McAvoy are back to determine the state of the team.

Winter form:
March - Berg - DeBrusk
Hall - Krejci - Pasta
Zacha - Coyle - Smith
Foligno/Frederic - Nosek - Steen

McAvoy - Lindholm
Gryz - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton/Zboril

Reilly will be expendable at the TDL barring no other significant injuries, in addition to about 2.6M in cap space (see above). This can be used to bolster the bottom D pairing and/or fourth line for playoffs.

I'm no capologist so let me know if I missed anything!!

The biggest thing to consider here is both players need to want to come back under those contract structures. The fact that they're both unsigned at this point and there haven't been any moves to clear cap it does not look all too promising. However, I remain hopeful.

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't take those deals tbh. Again, the majority of the performance bonus for both will be easily attainable (15-20 games played), so they are almost ensured that money. We will see what happens!
