That’s not true, trade proposal was : Knies (top prospect) + a 1st + one year of Kerfoot (a really useful player). Depends on Flames thinking (are they tearing it down on re-structuring) but that’s a fair return for Lindholm imo. Intriguing proposal

Plus - when has lindholm ever had 100 points? He’s a good player but he also played with two elite players last year and was 42/40 for 82 points, by far the most in his career.

A player can have different value to different teams.* Muzzin is valuable to Toronto; without him, your defense is much weaker than it was last year. In contrast, an expensive veteran is not valuable to a team which won't be in the playoffs until after his contract runs out. Toronto shouldn't be trading him; Anaheim shouldn't be trading for him.

* Consider, for example, the value of Topi Niemela -- an A prospect at RD -- to Los Angeles and Anaheim. LA has Sean Durzi, Jordan Spence, Brandt Clarke and Helge Grans in the pipeline behind Drew Doughty, Matt Roy and Sean Walker, so Niemela would be an interesting but non-essential luxury. To Anaheim, Niemela would be a gem.

Jake Muzzin was liability all last season not to mention having multiple concussions in one month. He was good again in the playoffs after coming back from his injury but playing with Brodie, arguably one of the most underrated defensemen will do that.

TJ had the 3rd best xDEF last year among all skaters.

Holl looked better once Muzzin was injured. The defensive core will only be better be giving more responsibility to Sandin and Liljegren, having a full year of Gio, and we keep Holl in this scenario. This Dcore is much much better without Muzzin.

As for adding a D prospect instead of Robertson, I will agree with that in terms of ANA needs

So you're basing it on points instead of seeing that he finished 2nd in Selke voting, you know that one dude Patrice Bergeron has never scored more than 80 points he must not be worth it either according to your logic, try actually watching a game instead of just reading stat lines.

Oh and also you Leafs fans gotta come up with better offers this is just putrid.

Yes, production matters (a lot); are you trying to say lindholm is as good as Bergeron squinty smile ? Cirelli finished 5th in selke voting, while putting up similar points to most of lindholm’s career - is he as good as Bergeron too?
Last year Lindholm played with two elite players and set his career high in points (82); next year he won’t and he’ll revert back to typ 65 points. He can finish 2nd in selke voting every year but he still ain’t elite, sorry bud.

So a guy that scores 40 goals a season on a bargain of a contract and finished 2nd in Selke voting isn't elite in your eyes, good lord what an absolutely asinine take.

Yeah, how many elite players are there? Cause lindholm ain’t in the top 20 or even top 30. Dude is good (has a really good year but a bit of a hourly er) but he is far, far from elite. Guarantee his numbers drop when his line mates change , and very very few defensive centers qualify as elite.

All this proves to me is that he's still supremely underrated if anything, Lindholm is up there with the likes of Bergeron and Barkov, he isn't far from elite, literally every single metric shows that hes an elite 2 way centre, but let me ask you something then, how many first line centres are out there that are even close to him in terms of 2 way play, cause the way I see its only a handful, that makes him elite. You have elite confused with a top whatever player, theres more to being elite than just that.

Better forwards (I’ll leave dmen and goalies) aside; as in - I would take them over lindholm even given his sweet salary :
Matthews, Marner, McDavid, Draisaital, Kucherov, Kaprizov, Goudreau,M Tkatchuk, JT Miller, Pasternak, Marchand, Barkov, Huberdeau, Aho, Crosby, Barzal, McKinnon, Kane, Stone.
Some you could argue but most no argument. These guys are franchise cornerstones and have been consistently excellent year after year; I just don’t rate lindholm at that level but you have convinced me that he is better than I realized , especially at that ticket $.
